    “Do you see how close I am to the edge? Am I close enough to the edge now?” he asked, as he scooted closer still, eliciting worried gasps from the audience.

    “Don’t worry I’m not going to fall off, [but] if I did I would just break my arm or something,” joked Vujicic, resulting in echoing laughter throughout the gymnasium.

    In early January the Lula Washington Dance Theatre, an internationally-recognized troupe, performed at Ramona Convent Secondary School in Alhambra, providing a performance that uniquely blended ballet, jazz, African and street-dance techniques.

  • St. Lucy’s Priory H.S. in Glendora hosts successful open house event

    Last month, more than 500 prospective students and their families attended the annual open house event at St. Lucy’s Priory High School in Glendora. Guests participated in campus tours led by St. Lucy’s students, where they learned about academics, athletics and student life.

  • Knights of Columbus hosts Respect Life Rosary

    On Jan. 22 at noon, the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the Knights of Columbus will host their annual Respect Life Rosary to mark the 43rd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision.

    The peaceful, one-hour event will take place in front of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Building. All are invited to join in praying the rosary for an end to abortion.

  • Elderly Catholic nun dies from hit-and-run injuries

    A 70-year-old Catholic nun left in critical condition following a hit-and-run collision has died from her injuries. Sister Raquel Diaz, EIN, passed away Dec. 20.

    On Dec. 13, Sister Raquel was at a crosswalk at Winter St. and North Evergreen Ave. in Boyle Heights when a small, white four-door compact car struck her. The driver of the vehicle continued traveling southbound, never stopping, Los Angeles officials report.

  • Ramona Convent School receives 2015 Cool Climate Award

    On Nov. 10, the California Interfaith Power and Light, a faith-based organization committed to protecting the environment, awarded the 2015 Cool Climate Award to Ramona Convent Secondary School in Alhambra. The school won in the category of Water Stewardship.

  • Holy Family School wins LA County mock trial championship

    Holy Family School in Pasadena won the 38th annual Los Angeles County Mock Trial Dec. 2, defeating Westside Neighborhood School in the final. A total of 52 public and private schools competed in the competition.
