The annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be hosted by Holy Family Church in Glendale Aug. 9-10.

Holy Family Church in Glendale is hosting its third annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament for adult and high school players on Aug. 9-10.

Players, teams, sponsors and volunteers from the community are invited to sign up for the event, which will also include a fitness fair. Last year, 17 teams participated, drawing about 200 athletes, spectators and volunteers.

Up to five players may form a team, and co-ed teams are permitted. There will be three leagues for different age groups. Options for sponsors include getting company names displayed on jerseys, banners and/or in the program. Volunteers are also needed to help as referees, scorekeepers and as food preparers.

Exhibition games to determine brackets will be held Aug. 2, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. On Aug. 9, the competition will run 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Playoffs, a 3-Point Contest and a Point Guard Challenge will take place Aug. 10, 1-5 p.m. For registration and information, call (818) 247-2222 ext. 555 or visit www.hf3on3.splashthat.com.

Statement on U.S. Supreme Court Decision in United States v. Texas

Archbishop José H. Gomez

Our nation’s ongoing failure to address the immigration crisis is a humanitarian tragedy. For more than a decade, state and local governments, Congress, the President, the courts — and now the highest court in the land — all have failed in their responsibilities to address this issue.
