‘Walk for Life’ set May 17 in Redondo Beach

The 2014 March for Life in Washington DC on Jan. 22, 2014 marked the 41st anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade Decision that legalized abortion. Ten's of thousands of people who support the Pro Life movement gather each year to make the voices of the 56 million aborted children heard. (Credit: Catholic News Agency)

The 27th annual Walk For Life, “Every Step Matters,” will be held May 17 to support Pregnancy Help Center in Torrance. The leisurely seaside 5K, starting at 8:30 a.m. from the south side of Veterans Park in Redondo Beach, welcomes everyone in the community, including seniors, families with children and babies in strollers and everything in between.

The Pregnancy Help Center, a free medical clinic, has assisted women in the South Bay since 1976 with pregnancy and STD testing, and now free ultrasound services. The festivities will include music, activities for youth and families, food and prizes.

Archbishop José H. Gomez

As I write, I’ve just read the sad news that 90 Christians have been kidnapped from two villages in Syria. Of course we were all shocked earlier this month by the news that 21 Coptic Christians were executed in Syria — killed, as Pope Francis said, “for the mere fact of being Christians.”
