Liturgy Conference set June 28-29 in Mission Hills
“Celebrating the Sacred Mysteries” is the theme of an early summer liturgy conference to be presented by the Office for Worship and the archdiocesan Liturgical Commission in Mission Hills.
The June 28-29 conference, at Bishop Alemany High School, is being held in conjunction with the Year of Faith proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI and the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council’s promulgation of “Sacrosanctum Concilium,” the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy.
In addition to workshops and worship experiences, keynote addresses at this conference will be presented by Msgr. Kevin W. Irwin and Msgr. Richard B. Hilgartner.
Msgr. Irwin, a priest of the Archdiocese of New York, holds the Walter J. Schmitz, Chair of Liturgical Studies at The Catholic University of America, and this spring will be teaching in Rome for the CUAbroad program. The author of 14 books, his most recent is “101 Questions and Answers on the Mass,” published in October, 2012 by Paulist Press.
Msgr. Hilgartner is executive director of the U.S. Bishops’ Secretariat for Divine Worship, and oversaw the introduction of the new translation of the Roman Missal, educating priests and lay people throughout the country about the changes. He was ordained in 1995 as a priest for the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
