At St. Mary’s: Helping Kijaunte see the world

At St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, a patch has just been taken off of five-year-old Kijaunte Hobson’s right eye, which only has about 20 percent of normal vision, and which specialists are making an effort to save — especially since his left eye has lost 90 percent of vision.

Ascension celebrates 75 years

From third through eighth grade (from 1945 to 1951), John Parker attended Ascension School, living nearby and walking to school with his brothers. His favorite memory is Sister St. George coming outside to greet the boys on the playground.
