At St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, a patch has just been taken off of five-year-old Kijaunte Hobson’s right eye, which only has about 20 percent of normal vision, and which specialists are making an effort to save — especially since his left eye has lost 90 percent of vision.

Every fall, the Missionary Childhood Association of the Archdiocese hosts a gathering at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels with several thousand Catholic school children from the archdiocese to celebrate young people giving of themselves on behalf of less fortunate children around the world.
