Last summer, my sister Carly had a volunteer experience that truly changed her life. It was through her encouragement that I applied for a camp counselor position this at Camp ReCreation, located at the MaryWood Center in the Orange Diocese.

In marking the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the Angeles Chorale, in partnership with the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels, will hold a concert free to the public at the cathedral located in downtown Los Angeles, site of the first memorial observance the year following the attacks, as part of the planned nationwide events and observances.

More than 100 African American Catholics from about 30 parishes participating in a town hall meeting were urged by keynote speaker Archbishop José Gomez to make it a point to read the Bible and to share with others the significance of each aspect of the Mass, especially the Eucharist, as a way to improve evangelization efforts.
The archbishop said that a “new evangelization” is a personal priority for him, as it is for the archdiocesan Synod and for the U.S. Conference of Bishops.
