In Encino: Learning respect for nature, 4-H style

A 4-H Club, with more than 30 enthusiastic students from grades 5-8, has been formed at St. Cyril of Jerusalem School in Encino.

School parents Adrienne Ryan and Gabriel Johanssen initially broached the idea with science teacher Toni Stolo, who agreed to become the club’s advisor.

A new book by the archdiocesan superintendent of elementary schools invites school leaders to re-imagine how Catholic schools operate.

“Changing the Ending” by Dr. Kevin Baxter provided the basis for his well-attended professional development session on educational administration at this year’s National Catholic Education Association’s convention based on key points from his new book, published by the NCEA.

St. Bernardine hosts adult faith enrichment programs

This spring, St. Bernardine of Siena Church in Woodland Hills offers two adult faith enrichment presentations by young women scholars and theologians. Parishioner Laura Hogan, lawyer turned theologian, will lead a three-part series titled, “Suffering, Transformation and Joy in St. Paul’s Letter to the Philippians” starting May 16.
