Actress Brit Marling and director Mike Cahill, both graduates of Georgetown University, never figured they'd be on the south side of M Street — the college is on the north side of the fashionable Washington neighborhood — to promote a movie conceived in part by their studies at the Jesuit-run university.Marling and Cahill co-wrote "Another Earth," which deals with the fatal fallout of what happens when a new planet in our solar system is discovered, and it turns out to be a virtual mirror image of the planet Earth — complete with people with the same names and personal histories.

One of the most successful movie franchises of all time goes out in style with "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" (Warner Bros.). Though this eighth installment in the series that began with 2001's "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" may bewilder newcomers — if there are any of the uninitiated left, they will not find themselves mollycoddled by patient exposition — director David Yates provides a gratifying wrap-up to a decade of blockbuster adaptations.
