• Robert Erburu, 2001 Cardinal’s Award recipient, dies

    Funeral Mass will be held May 29, 1:30 p.m., at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels for Robert F. Erburu, 83, the last chairman of Times Mirror Co. and a 2001 Cardinal’s Award recipient, who died May 11 at his home in Santa Barbara.

    Dr. Clyde Von Der Ahe

    Funeral Mass was held Jan. 15 at Christ the King Church in Los Angeles for Dr. Clyde Von Der Ahe, 95, who died Jan. 4. An OB/GYN, Dr. Von Der Ahe had his own practice and also spent 50 years of dedication to St. Anne’s Maternity Home for pregnant, unwed mothers. Among the many honors he earned in his lifetime, he was a 2006 Cardinal’s Award recipient.

Jean Beliveau was more than an athlete, though certainly he was a one-in-a-million athlete. The record of his achievements almost defies belief. He played in the National Hockey League for 20 seasons and retired with 10 championship rings.
