Film about local poverty premieres in South Pasadena

A full-length film telling the stories of people struggling with poverty in the San Gabriel area and the response of the faithful to care for those in need, “Wings of Love” makes its premiere at Holy Family Church in South Pasadena on Oct. 2.The film is a cooperative project by Catholic Charities San Gabriel Region and Pax et Bonum Communications, a nonprofit production company whose mission is to tell stories of persons victimized by social injustices from the perspective of Catholic social teaching. The film describes both the reality of local poverty and how the work of Catholic Charities is striving to provide care and courage for those affected.Catholic Charities has developed a curriculum that can be used with the film to teach persons of all ages about local needs, God’s call to serve, and practical ways to respond to poverty. “Wings of Love” screens at 7 p.m., followed by a question-answer session.
