The Tidings — which began publishing in 1895 — is the oldest, continuously published weekly Catholic newspaper in the Los Angeles market area. It reaches the homes and parishes of hundreds of thousands of active readers every week via U.S. Mail. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the largest Catholic archdiocese in the United States and one of the largest in the world, publishes The Tidings in English and Vida Nueva in Spanish.

The award-winning newspaper reports on local, national and international news that impacts the lives of its readers, their families and their friends. Our readers hold onto each copy for an average of eight days (until the next one arrives) and refer to it several times during that period. This newspaper — as well as it’s Spanish-language counterpart, Vida Nueva, is where readers turn for information they cannot find anywhere else.

In this year of our Lord 2015, we celebrated the 1982nd anniversary of Jesus’ most precious gift, himself, in the sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist. This Sunday, May 24, we celebrate Pentecost, the 1982nd birthday of the universal Church, and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
