Two formation classes for prospective parish cantors will be offered this spring in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles through the Office for Worship.

The "Cantor A" courses will be led by Janis Nelson from May 4 to June 30 at St. Anthony Church, Oxnard, and by Diana Cierpich from June 1 to July 27 at St. Bruno Church, Whittier.

Each weekly course (7-9 p.m.) covers liturgical as well as musical formation. Preliminary requirements include the basic ability to read music notation and to learn music, a basic knowledge of liturgy and the order of liturgy, and a basic spirit of hospitality and service.

A minimum of 12 and maximum of 15 students will be accepted for each course. Registration is $120, and is required prior to the beginning of the course (deadlines are April 22 for St. Anthony and May 20 for St. Bruno).
