Looking Ahead: Youth Employment Services annual dinner

Youth Employment Services annual dinner: Sept. 25
Yvonne Burke, Los Angeles County supervisor second district, and Jesuit Father Gregory Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries, will be honored at the 14th Annual Alumni and Employer Recognition Awards Dinner of the Archdiocesan Youth Employment Services Sept. 25. The annual event, recognizing exemplary youth, business and community leaders, takes place at The Omni Los Angeles Hotel, 251 South Olive Street.

AYE, a program under Catholic Charities of LA, provides more than 3,000 less privileged youth with job training, educational and career services each year. An additional 1,500 young people receive referral and job placement assistance through an extensive network of employers and community organizations. Reservations: (213) 736-5456.

Annual Red Mass: Oct. 2
All members of the legal community are invited to the 26th Annual Red Mass, Oct. 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Cardinal Roger Mahony will serve as main celebrant and Bishop George H. Neiderauer will give the homily. A reception follows in the Cathedral Conference Center.
