Sr. Georgina Marie Bowers, OP
Funeral Mass was held April 10 at St. Catherine Chapel in Adrian, Michigan, for Dominican Sister Georgina Marie Bowers (Louise Bowers), 88, who died April 4 at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian. She had been a member of the Adrian Dominican Congregation for 71 years.

A Chicago native, she graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian and received a Bachelor of Philosophy degree in history from Siena Heights College (University) in Michigan.

Sister Bowers spent 31 years ministering in education followed by office administration and volunteer work. In California, she served as a secretary/treasurer at Holy Cross Provincial House in Santa Cruz (1966-70) and as an office assistant at St. Raphael Church in Los Angeles (1981-84).

Survivors include two sisters: Mrs. Betty Balla of Chicago, Illinois and Mrs. Peg Toomey of Scottsdale, Arizona. Memorial gifts may be made to Adrian Dominican Sisters, 1257 E. Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, MI 49221.

Sr. Petronita Hegdahl, OP
Funeral Mass was held March 8 in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa, Wisconsin, for Dominican Sister Petronita Hegdahl, who died March 5. Sister Hegdahl shared life with the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation for 69 years.

Born in Minneapolis, she made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican in 1938 and took her final vows in 1941. Sister Hegdahl was an elementary teacher and principal for 46 years, serving in California, Illinois, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

Locally, she was the principal and taught at All Saints in Los Angeles from 1957-59. Memorial donations may be made to the Sinsinawa Dominicans, 585 County Road Z, Sinsinawa, WI 53824-9701 or through www.sinsinawa.org.

Sr. Mary Carlton, SP
Funeral Mass was held Feb. 27 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in St. Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, for Sister of Providence Mary (Florence) Carlton, 80, who died Feb. 22.

Born in Chelsea, Mass., she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence in 1948. She spent 59 years as a Sister of Providence, primarily ministering as an educator in schools staffed by her congregation in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Massachusetts and at St. Ambrose in West Hollywood (1955-59).

Sr. Theresa Marie McDermott, DC
Funeral Mass was held Feb. 15 at Seton Provincialate in Los Altos Hills, Calif., for Daughter of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul Sister Theresa Marie McDermott, who died Feb. 14.

A native of Massachusetts, she entered the Daughters of Charity in Los Altos Hills in 1976. Sister McDermott was a teacher, a principal, a Sister Servant (local superior) and a mentor to those with whom she worked and shared community.

Her ministries included her current service as provincial councilor for education and, locally, ministering at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal School, Montebello, and St. Francis Medical Center, Lynwood. Survivors include her sister, Maureen, and husband Rod and family; her brother, Frank, and wife, Amy and family; her brother, Mark, and wife, Gerry and family; and her sister, Kathy.
