Run for Vocations set March 4

text only version

The Office of Vocations is again coordinating the annual Run for Vocations, taking place March 4 during the Los Angeles Marathon.

The Run, is really more of a "pilgrimage for church vocations," says Religious Sister of Charity Kathy Bryant, vocations director, who has run the event several times and coordinates the archdiocesan participation of priests, religious, seminarians, novices and others in support of vocations. Archdiocesan participants are readily visible among the thousands of runners in their bright green shirts that read, "I do not run aimlessly."

"We run, walk, or bike for vocations and get prayer sponsors, not money," says Sister Bryant.

Participants must register with the City of Los Angeles Marathon office: www.lamarathon.com. Others are encouraged to attend the event to cheer on the runners, and to attend the March 3 Mass (5:30 p.m.) for the L.A. Marathoners at St. Agatha Church in Los Angeles.

For information, call the Office for Vocations, (213) 637-7248.
