Celebrating the loves of their lives at
World Marriage Day

text only version

Hundreds of couples from throughout the archdiocese --- all of them celebrating significant milestone wedding anniversaries in 2007 --- gathered Feb. 11 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels for the annual World Marriage Day Mass.

Coordinated by the Office of Family Life, the event invites couples to renew their wedding vows and reaffirm their commitment to one another. Similar events were celebrated in the Santa Barbara Region, at St. Louis de Montfort Church (Santa Maria) and Our Lady of the Assumption Church (Ventura).

Among the celebrating couples at the Cathedral were 16 whose marriage has spanned 60 years or more. They were led by Mr. and Mrs. Basilio Cardenas of Rowland Heights, at 72 years; Mr. and Mrs. Rojelio Cadena of Santa Monica (67 years); and Mr. and Mrs. Adriano Gonzales of Winnetka (66 years).

Marking 65 years were Mr. and Mrs. Encarnacion Perez of Granada Hills; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Rodriquez, Diamond Bar; Mr. and Mrs. Mario Santos, Los Angeles; and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Richard, Burbank. At 63 years were Mr. and Mrs. Ramon De Leon of Los Angeles, Mr. and Mrs. Raul Galdamez of Los Angeles, and Mr. and Mrs. Delfino Lora of Downey, followed by Mr. and Mrs. Mario Liberatore of Westlake Village at 62 years.

The 60-year anniversary couples included Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Aguiano, Ventura; Mr. and Mrs. James Fiorina, San Gabriel; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Norton, Arcadia; Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Ortega, Monterey Park; and Mr. and Mrs. Adriano Yosores, Los Angeles.
