Prayer and Life workshops to begin in September

San Gabriel Region
text only version

Five parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will host Prayer and Life Workshops, beginning in early September.

Created by Capuchin Father Ignacio Larraņaga, Prayer and Life Workshops provide a carefully structured school for learning and practicing the art of prayer. In each session, participants learn and practice a different method of prayer, progressively learning a variety of prayer methods, and gradually becoming familiar with the methods that best suit one's own personality, Father Larraņaga explained.

"You learn how to pray by praying and you become familiar with the Bible by using it to seek God during the workshop sessions and during your private times for prayer and meditation," he said.

The PLW sessions will be held Fridays 7-9 p.m., beginning Sept 2 at St. Christopher Church, West Covina, and St. Augustine Church, Culver City. Three other parishes --- St. Denis Church, Diamond Bar; St. Gregory the Great Church, Whittier; and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Los Nietos --- also will host the sessions, with day and time to be determined.

For more information about the Workshops, call Filomena Rombeiro, (562) 695-5559; Mayela Najera, (626) 357-0369; or Martha Dineros, (310) 549-4373.
